Basic Pistol

NRA Basic Pistol Course

Duration: 8 hours

There are no prerequisites and the material is suitable for supervised mature children over the age of 12.

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. The course provides training in the following topics:

  • NRA's rules for safe gun handling
  • Pistol parts and operation
  • Ammunition knowledge
  • Range rules
  • Firing the First Shots (includes cleaning and storage)
  • Two-handed Shooting Positions
  • One-handed Standing Shooting Positions
  • Cleaning the pistol
  • Pistol sports and activities
  • Continued opportunities for skill development
  • Georgia Firearms License discussion (Not approved by the NRA)

Students will receive feedback on the live-fire exercise and a course certificate upon successful completion of the lessons. There is a short written test on the lesson material at the end of the course. Ask about our day or evening sessions.

Ammunition will be provided

All equipment provided

Course Cost:
$150.00 includes firearm, ammunition, wrap-around eye and ear protection. Range fee's must be paid by student.
